Tunde finished 6th in the 55m dash today(2/23) at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Iowa City. Reggie Torian won the 55 in 6.29, Tunde was within a tenth of a second, in what was a very close heat.
Tunde also ran lead leg on Illinois 4x400 relay team that finished 3rd. Their time was 3:16.77. Ohio State won the event in 3:14.37. Tunde's split was 49.6.
In the team competition, Illinois finished second to Wisconsin. Here is a rundown of final team standings:
Illinois' best performances came from Chris Jones. Remember Chris finished 2nd to Tunde in the 200 last year at state? Well, Chris had a terrific meet this weekend. He won the 400 in 47.64, and finished 2nd in the 200 with a time of 21.74.
Tunde went 24-8.25 on his final jump to finish 3rd in the Big Ten long jump today(2/22). He also qualified for tomorrow's finals in the 55m dash, posting the 4th fastest time. He ran, but didn't qualify for the finals in the 200.
Tunde's 6.37 time in the 55m prelims was the 4th fastest, and Illinois' sole entry in the event. The top time going into tomorrow's final is 6.32.
As a team, Illinois is in good position to win the team title. They got good finishes in the pole vault, and qualified more athletes than expected for tomorrow's finals.
As soon as I hear, or find results, I'll post the information on this site. Wisconsin's website previewed the Big Ten's and named Illinois, Dorian Green, and Tunde Ridley as the main competition they will face this weekend. The meet is held Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
