What you need:

• CICS and a TCP/IP for MVS stack.
• TCP/IP 3.2 for MVS or higher.
• Preferably, CICS/ESA 4.1 or higher.
• Preferably, OS/390 1.3 or higher.
• "Required" IBM documentation/manuals:
  • CICS TCP/IP Socket Interface Guide and Reference, SC31-7131, for TCP/IP 3.2 (OS/390 1.3), or
  • OS/390 eNetwork Communications Server IP CICS Sockets Guide, SC31-8518, for TCP/IP 3.4 (OS/390 2.5) and higher.
• "Recommended" IBM documentation/redbooks:
  • CICS/ESA and TCP/IP for MVS Sockets Interface, GG24-4026.
  • A Beginner's Guide to MVS TCP/IP Socket Programming, GG24-2561.
  • Accessing CICS Business Applications from the World Wide Web, SG24-4547.
• Ability to code CICS applications with socket calls.
• A TCP/IP host to communicate with CICS.
