CICS Socket Interface - Tips and Techniques - Applications

Review the "Application Programming Guide" chapters of the
appropriate CICS TCP/IP Socket Interface Guide and Reference
manual(s), and any other available documentation and/or
sample code.

Choose between using the supplied concurrent server/listener (CSKL),
or write your own concurrent or iterative server.

Suggest starting with a small/easy/trivial application, then
attempt that native CICS Web server and/or CICS FTP server
(or client) or CICS Telnet Server (or client) or ???.

Review security and/or data encryption requirements.

Review application debugging procedures, etc.
-
Review resource consumption and/or accounting and/or
chargeback considerations.

As with the CICS standard command level API, validate LENGTH fields,
and check/handle return codes.

Review monitoring/availability considerations.

If appropriate for your sysplex, review newer enhancements like
BIND-based Domain Name System (DNS) and VIPA (Virtual Internet Protocol
Address).
