A course packet entitled Intercollegiate Sports in America: 1900-1996: A History Colloquium Reader is available at the Hub. This includes a selection of readings on our major topics that will serve as the common background for the discussions. Everyone needs to read these materials before the discussions. This edition of the Reader is substantially different than used in previous classes.
The link to the draft reading list offers a beginning list of books that appear interesting for the various topics of our colloquium. Each student should provide additional suggestions to enhance this reading list as well as suggestions of books that should be removed as not very helpful. (I am grateful to Dr. Art Sandeen for sharing his bibliography for this initial list.)
