Command Prompt Options: (Press [Enter] after each command.)
Write a new message(See Sending Mail Options below.)	Type "mail receiver". Replace ‘receiver’ with a valid e-mail address or nickname.
Write a new message with copies sent to other receivers(See Sending Mail Options below.)	Type "mail receiver_1 cc: receiver_2 ...". Replace ‘receiver_#’ with valid e-mail addresses or nicknames.
Write a new message with blind copies sent to other receivers(See Sending Mail Options below.)	Type "mail receiver_1 bcc: receiver_2 ...". Replace ‘receiver_#’ with valid e-mail addresses or nicknames.
Check for new mail(See Reviewing Mailbox Options.)	Type "mail".
Create nicknames(See Names Options below.)	Type "names".
Sending Mail Options:
Specify recipient(s) of copies of the message	Press [PF12] then type "include cc: receiver_1 receiver_2 ...". Replace ‘receiver_#’ with valid e-mail addresses or nicknames.
Specify recipient(s) of blind copies of the message	Press [PF12] then type "include bcc: receiver_1 receiver_2 ...". Replace ‘receiver_#’ with valid e-mail addresses or nicknames.
Start a new line (insert a linefeed)	[Tab] when cursor at the end of a line
Delete a single character	[Delete] when cursor preceding character
Delete an entire line	[PF9] when cursor is on the line
Add a new blank line at the cursor	[PF2]
Add 14 new blank lines at the bottom	[PF4]
Send the message	Press [PF5] twice.
Abort the message	[PF3], type "qquit" and press [Enter].
Reviewing Mailbox Options:
Move the cursor down one entry	[PF8] or down cursor key
Move the cursor up one entry	[PF7] or up cursor key
Read a message (See below.)	[PF2] when cursor is on the entry
Mark message for deletion	[PF9] when cursor is on the entry
Reply to selected message	[PF5] when cursor is on the entry
Forward a copy of the selected message	[PF6] when cursor is on the entry
Quit reviewing your mailbox and return to the command prompt	[PF3]
Reading Message Options:
Scroll the page down	[PF8]
Scroll the page up	[PF7]
Read the next message	[PF2]
Mark this message for deletion and read the next message	[PF9]
Reply to this message	[PF5]
Forward a copy of this message	[PF6]
Quit reading and return to the Reviewing Your Mailbox screen	[PF3]
Names Options:
Add a new nickname entry	Fill in at least the Nickname:, Userid:, Node:, and Name: fields, pressing [Tab] to move between fields. Press [PF2] to add it to your list.
Clear all fields	[PF4]
Display the previous nickname entry	[PF7]
Display the next nickname entry	[PF8]
Delete the current nickname entry	[PF9]
Getting On-line Help:
Context Sensitive Help	[PF1]
Help using the help system	Press [PF1], type "help help", and press [Enter].

Notes:

RICE mail is a host based e-mail system. Therefore, you must use it from a terminal or a PC which is emulating an IBM 3270 terminal.

RICE mail is available on NERVM which is a NERDC system.

Instead of showing function keys as "F1", "F2", etc., they are shown as "PF1", "PF2", etc.

The key [PF12] can be used in most screens to move the cursor to the command line in order to type in commands if needed.

Some commands and options will prompt you for names, addresses, confirmations, etc. They are not explicitly shown on this Quick Reference Card. It is assumed that you will understand the prompt and respond accordingly. For more detail read the full reference.
