SAVING & UNCOMPRESSING:
It is usually most convenient to save source files to a subdirectory you can use temporarily.  For example, C:\TEMP on your micro.   Uncompress the file in that subdirectory.

ALWAYS read files named README, READ.ME, README.1ST, etc., before attempting to install the uncompressed software.  They typically tell you what you must do to install the software on your micro.

Files with the extension EXE will usually uncompress themselves. nbsp; Most files must be uncompressed in your Windows, NT, or OS/2 Run procedure and immediately start their procedures to install software on your micro.   Some still require you to manually change to the subdirectory, type the file name, and press Enter to do the uncompression.  Then you may have to execute a SETUP.* or INSTALL.* file in your Windows, NT, or OS/2 Run procedure.

Files with the extension ZIP will require a utility similar to WinZIP.   The uncompression typically gives *.EXE files that are then run to install the software package.
